Oh, before that, I feel like updating about my life first. Please, let me talk.

Life update? Yeah. So, as I've said earlier, this week is a hectic one. We just had our 2nd volunteering program, Feed The Need 2.0: Health Care. It was so much fun but also very tiring. As a secretary of the organization, I'm so, so glad that everything went very well, although we didn't prepare all out just like we did for the first one. By the way, I talked a little bit about our first program which was Feed The Need 1.0: Kids Fun Fest here.

Heyyo! Spot me somewhere?

The precious people.

With my roommates! Since the theme of our 2nd program is Health Care, we've had free medical checkups for the homeless! Plus, other than giving food, we also gave free hygiene kits for the ones who did their medical checkup!

There were many kids as well.

My lovely classmates!

And of course, the whole volunteer team. Thank you so much, everyone.

I just feel like sharing these pictures because it was such an amazing night. We got to help the homeless around KL. We went back to UM feeling very grateful for everything we have, and also full of conviction. Alhamdulillah.

Visiting Movie Animation Park Studios (MAPS)

My holiday mood is still on! Since UM is like 20 minutes away from my home and it's still school holiday, I miss home and my brothers! They'll start schooling again in 2 weeks. My little brother is going back to his MRSM soon. I want to spend more time with them. (Fun fact: I'm very close to my brothers, although I'm the only daughter.)

Actually, I go home almost every weekend. Is that bad? If UM is not this near to my house I won't be doing this. Plus, the nearby LRT station which is LRT University is one line with the LRT station near my house. No need to stop at KL Sentral or Masjid Jamek to change the line. It's just so easy for me to go home! Lol.

Ways to Relax After A Long Day

Hello, 2nd Semester! So far, so good. Well, that's literally because it's the first week. The schedule is still quite flexible, only for this week. The real struggle is starting soon. For now, I'm trying to enjoy these free time I have since there are no practicals, quizzes, presentations, and assignments yet. Next week onwards are going to be hectic!

Whether you're working or studying, sometimes it can be so tiring, right? No matter what type of job you have or what course you're taking, seriously. A long day can be very exhausting. I've been there. Gosh, this is making me miss my high school years so bad. High school years were very fun, and obviously not as hard as this current life I'm having.

1st Semester wasn't that bad because I managed to handle my stress quite well. There were those tiring days where I felt like screaming and crying. It's normal, I guess. I've learned to be more chill and relax! This is very important for our health, physically and mentally. I feel like sharing these ways on how should we relax after a very long day.

Take a long, hot shower
I don't know about you guys, but I'm that kind of person who takes a very loooong shower. Probably around 15 minutes, at least. I love it, no matter what the temperature is. And obviously, it would be even more satisfying after a tiring day. Hot shower is even better. Definitely one of the best ways to freshen yourself up!

Some music can help!
What are your favorite music genres? Well, I seriously don't have any specific ones that I like. Listening to music is a good way to relax. I know it's better to listen to the ones that are more calming but for me, any type of songs that I enjoy can really help me to escape from my mind, even just for a little while. If I'm a bit stressed, I would literally karaoke out loud and guess what, it really works! Hahaha.

Go offline
Sometimes, it's better to have some 'me-time' without any gadgets. Talk to your family, have some snacks or read a book. Turn off your smartphones and laptops! They will just remind you about all the assignments and workload you have. No, I'm not telling you to procrastinate, it's just, you need to at least have some good rest before you start doing any of those tasks back. Don't push yourself too much.

A cup of coffee?
Hot coffee during the night is so refreshing. My favorite is Nescafe Caramel Latte. Since I'm living in my college, those 3in1 packets are very useful! I enjoy drinking these rather than Milo. But if coffee can cause you insomnia, drink something else like hot chocolate and please, avoid coffee! You will lose sleep and feel very tired during the next day. For me, since I've had lots of coffee throughout my life, 1 cup of it has no effect on me anymore. Lol! Kinda sounds weird, I know.

Deep breathing (Meditate)
One of the simplest and easiest way to relax. Take a moment to sit on your couch, close your eyes and breath in deeply and slowly. If it's not enough, go outside and breath in some fresher air instead! Do this for at least 2 minutes. It is not only going to help you to relax but also very good for your health. After a long and rushed day, taking some deep breath can be very important.

Just sleep!
Okay, I know this one it's pretty obvious. What I'm trying to say here is you need to get ENOUGH sleep. Don't stay up too long until late night doing your work. Manage your work and time properly, as long as you're getting enough sleep then that's fine. Another option is to sleep early and wake up early if you still have not finished your work yet. It is better than staying up and try to push yourself when you're already tired.

So, these some of my opinion of ways on how I relax after a very tiring day. I don't know if they suit you guys but I really hope I've helped! Whatever it is, chill lah, okay? As I've mentioned earlier, don't push yourself too much! Relax!
HOW DO YOU RELAX AFTER A LONG DAY?

Top 5 Favourite Spots to Eat

I LOVE FOOD. FOOD IS LIFE. I literally don't even mind spending all my money on food. I would do some food hunting at least once a month, maybe? Seriously. This is exactly the reason why I become broke by the end of every single month and keep on gaining weight instead. My bad!

Bak kata pepatah, "bab makanan jangan berkira", eh?

Seafood dinner! Sweet & sour fish, kailan ikan masin, butter prawn, sotong goreng tepung and rice packed in the shape of a heart! Lol.

But of course, there are a few places that I would consider MY FAVOURITE SPOTS TO EAT! These are the places I think I would never get bored or feel sick of. These places have the food I will continuously crave for! And of course, from my point of view, they definitely worth the money.

Here you go, my top 5 favourite places to fill my hungry stomach! Nyum!

1. Sushi King
SUSHI can never go wrong. There are so many other sushi restaurants here in Malaysia but I've only tried Sushi King, hehe. I don't know why I'm not even bothered to try the others. Oh, I've tried Empire Sushi as well. Empire Sushi is more to like an express, take-away sushi store. What I love about Sushi King are not just the sushi, but the other menus as well! The bento box, oh my god, so freaking good. The sad thing is that I'm the only one who eats sushi in my family! So, I will either go with my friends or alone. Yes, this is like the only restaurant I wouldn't mind eating alone because ugh, I just can't resist sushi!

2. Jombali
Jombali has like the most varied menu I've ever seen. It's one of the restaurants I would take a bit longer time staring at the menu as there are so many choices that I sometimes just don't know what to eat! From Malay to Western, name it. Another thing is, although this restaurant is quite expensive, I think it's worth it because of the food portion. The portion is damn huge guys, legit. You will definitely walk out of the restaurant with a hella full stomach! One of my favourite things to order here is the Mac & Cheese. Very delicious, guys. Highly recommended!

3. Family Mart
Oh hell yeah, everyone knows this! It's quite famous here in Malaysia. Family Mart is a convenience store based in Japan. It's like their version of 7-Eleven. What's so special about this store is they sell Oden! Oden is a Japanese one-pot dish consisting of several ingredients such as boiled eggs, fish balls, crab sticks, and fishcakes stewed in a light, soy-flavoured dashi broth or tom yum. I recommend everyone to give it a try! They're very rare and of course, tasty! Another thing that is very famous here is the Matcha Ice Cream. It's a must whenever I go to Family Mart. I love it so much!

4. IKEA Restaurant
Mentioning IKEA, you guys would probably be thinking of the meatballs, right? Yeap! Those Swedish Meatballs are very mouth-watering. What differs this meatball dish with others is that it is served with lingonberry jam! It might sound weird but trust me, they're such a perfect combination. Oh, there are many other choices of food too! You don't always have to eat the meatballs. The pasta, salad, fried chicken, and many more are so, so good! I've tried them and for me, all of IKEA's food is worth the long wait in line. The prices are quite affordable too!

5. Boat Noodle
Thai food! Who doesn't love them? Boat Noodle is popular because of the way they serve and the way we eat the noodles. They serve them in small bowls and we would stack them up once we finish eating! The noodles are tasty too, unique flavour all the way from Thailand. Other than the noodles, you guys should try the other dishes such as pad thai, which is also very good! I love pad thai, one of my favourite Thai food. Boat Noodle also sells streamed kaya buns. The buns are extremely soft, served with sweet kaya dip. MUST TRY.

There are a variety of other places to eat around here in our country, but those are my top 5 favourites! Do you guys know that Malaysia is the fattest country in Asia? Seriously! I'm quite shocked but at the same time not that shocked since it's pretty obvious how we have TOO MANY types of restaurants, selling different types of food from all around the world. Malaysia itself has lots of unique food, right?
What are your favourite spots to eat?
P.s. : Sorry for not having proper flat lay photos. My bad.

💥 SENARAI PESERTA 💥

ALL THE BEST, EVERYONE!

ENDED!

1st Semester of Foundation!

Hello everyoneee! Hello! Hello! Finally, an update from this blog! Hahah. I hope it's not going to be awkward or something, but I'm really excited to write today. I've been missing this blog so much!

As you can see on the title, I'm literally going to talk about my studies, lol. I've been missing in action from this blog since June, right? And that was because I started my student life again (after leaving high school) in that particular month. I had my laptop with me, I thought I would be able to at least update this blog with one or two posts. But y'all, trust me, I had a very hectic life right after I enter this program.

I'm currently taking Foundation in Biological Science in University of Malaya. Also known as, PASUM. It is a full-time Pre-University Program, and the duration is 2 semesters (10 months). UM's foundation program is one of the hardest ones in Malaysia. And yes, I have to admit that it is quite tough. The schedule is very packed, the learning process is also quite fast, and everyone there is very, very intelligent. SPM results means nothing anymore. Everyone is so good, the competition is so freaking high. Fun fact, highest rate of depression in UM is not even medical students, but PASUM students. Dammit.

Long story short, we started in June until November for this 1st Semester. And yes guys, that is why I'm back! I just finished our 1st Semester in PASUM, and I survived! Alhamdulillah. I have to admit that there were sooooo many challenges that I needed to face. I've been to that point where I feel so stressed, I feel like giving up. But alhamdulillah with all of the prayers and support I got, I've made it! Woohoo!

We, the foundation students, are placed in Kolej Ungku Aziz (KUAZ), the 11th College in University of Malaya. There's a total of 12 residential colleges. Despite all the stress I had in PASUM, I love and really enjoy my life in KUAZ. PASUM and KUAZ are two different things. We have to walk about 1.3km everyday to PASUM. PASUM is where we learn all those academic stuffs, while KUAZ is where we live and do all other co-curricular activities.

PASUM is not that bad. My lecturers are very kind. The food is damn nice (although they're a bit pricey). My classmates are great. What makes the students feeling extra stress is because of the tough system. Since UM is the 1st university in Malaysia and 87th in the world, of course they want to maintain the record, which makes it harder comparing to other foundation or matriculation programs. Other pre-uni programs might only have one examination each semester which we called finals. But here in PASUM, we have 3 exams in each semester. Quizzes and presentations every single week. The laboratory practical classes are quite hard too. Semester break? Only 1 week for us! 1 freaking week! Other pre-uni programs would have at least 3 weeks of semester break. Huhu. Whatever it is, with the packed schedule, it becomes a pretty hard challenge for all of us.

Life in KUAZ is so much fun and I will definitely miss the college once this foundation program ends. When I first started this new life, I was a bit homesick. I wanted to go home, I would cry. That first (orientation) week didn't went well for me. But as time pass by until now, I'm legit enjoying my life as a KUAZian! I love my roommates, they're amazing. I also have a few friends from my high school here. I started to join co-curricular activities where I made lots of new friends as well. My life becomes much better. The food is great too! And Wifi, oh hell yeah!

I'm holding 2 positions in my college. First, I'm a graphic designer under JTKD Multimedia for a club called JKP Akademik & Intelektual (ADIN) in the college. What do I do? I design stuffs for this club. Posters, shirts, banners, slides and others for any of the programs that they're helding. I love designing, but it could be tough when you're designing for someone else. Hehe, gaining some new experience here!

Next one, I'm the secretory for the college's volunteering team under the club JKP Kebajikan & Kemasyarakatan (KEMAS). We organize volunteering programs for the students. The program is called Feed The Need, where we will give free food for homeless people around Kuala Lumpur. It was great and I learned a lot. I learned that it is not that easy to actually organize an event from A to Z. Being a secretory is a lot of work, but with my good and helpful teammates I have, it becomes very fun.

There are so many other stories I want to share, but let's stop right here. Now, I'm just going to show you guys these pictures of some memorable moments I had throughout this 1st Semester as a foundation student. Overall, I'm very, very grateful for everything. Alhamdulillah. I'm very happy to get the chance to join PASUM. I'm living my life. It is all going to be worth it in the end.

Kayak-ing at UM's Tasik Varsiti! One of the activities that is a must for all UM students.

My awesome roommates, Syu & Mashi! The ones that would light up my day with their funny stories and stupid jokes.

My class, HE1! Great people, featuring our Mentor Lecturer, Dr. Ungku Ferwani.

Throwback to our college's Merdeka Celebration this year!

Girls of HE1! A bunch of crazy and loud makciks.

Throwback to when we joined Health Career 101 program held by UM's Faculty of Medicine. Damn goals!

Chemistry lab! Here's one of the best lab classes since we got to play with those molecule structures.

Actually, we can't use our phones in labs but oops! Physics lab; confusing as always, heheh.

Biology lab a.k.a. drawing class! All we do is draw, draw and draw. Tiring but fun!

Our first Feed The Need 1.0 program went very well. So proud of the volunteering team!

Thank you so much to all the people who has been with me throughout this hectic life as a foundation student. We survived! So proud of each one of them. Now, it's time for a holiday, although it is only for a while. I'm so going to make use of this hella short, 1 week semester break. Yay!
P.s. : I'm going to be doing a giveaway really soon, guys! A giveaway! Hehe. Please stay tuned!

Studies: What Happened and What's Next?

Hi, everyone! Can't believe we're talking about studies today. I've left my school for more than half a year now. Have to be honest, I miss my school so much! Especially my best friends. High school life is the best and I will never forget about it. What an amazing 5 years.

So, what happened? After the whole year of 2017 full of stress and struggles, and almost 4 months of waiting, the results day finally came. I can't even lie, it was the most thrilling moment in my freaking life. My heart was beating faster than ever. I've never been that nervous before. I was wishing it could just end faster but at the same time, I was really scared to know my SPM results, of course.

Whatever it is, kena hadap jugak kan. The moment came. Some of my friends have been called up the stage. DAMN GUYS, I couldn't even describe the feelings. I was literally dying, lol. After a long wait, my name was called and I went up. Ya Allah. I went down the stage looking for my dad, hugged him and cried so hard. My mum wasn't there because she was working outstation that time.

Couldn't even bear to show my whole face, it was freaking red. You can see how swollen my eyes were there.

3A+ 5A 1A-. Alhamdulillah for everything. I couldn't ask for more. Couldn't believe that did it. I achieved my target. All those hard work and sacrifice were paid off. What I was looking forward too even more were my parents. Especially my mum. She had a really high hope for me, she believed in me too much that I was so scared of what will happen if I did not make it. Disappointing her was my biggest fear at that moment. But, I believe that all her hopes turned to doa. Doa seorang ibu, right?

I was quite sad that she wasn't there on the results day. Whatever it is, I'm still happy that I made her cried tears of joy! Hahahah. Also my dad, he didn't cry but his eyes were watering, and it was my first time ever seeing that. I've never seen my dad like that before. That feeling when you see how proud your parents were for you, I couldn't even describe it.

Hari Anugerah Cemerlang. This time my mum came! Hehe. But my dad didn't, he was on call.

I'm sure it's not too late yet, so congratulations to all my '00 batchmates! We all did it! No matter what your results were, it's not the end. We have a loooooong way to go, guys. Even for myself and other candidates out there who also got straight A's, it surely doesn't guarantee 100% of a bright future. There's a harder stage we're going to go through after this, which is the university life. To some of you guys who have started any pre-university programmes, I wish you a very good luck! I'm kind of excited but also not ready to start mine.

So, what's next? Well, I think I've talked about this before, how I don't have any specific ambitions yet. It's still confusing, but I'm slowly seeing the answer. I applied for scholarships, and I only got into one. It's under MARA. But the course that I got wasn't the ones I applied for. I got into an engineering course. After so long thinking about it and doing some researches about the course, I decided to reject the offer. I know, what a waste, Yana! Ugh, I don't know guys. I just feel like it's not my thing. After watching lots of videos and reading blogs about engineering, I don't think it's the right path for me. Wallahua'lam, only He knows.

I also got the matriculation programme but I decided to wait for UPU results which came out almost a month after matriculation results. I applied for a few foundation programmes and alhamdulillah I got into one. It's the one that I wanted the most. So, I decided to go for foundation instead of matriculation, and it will start soon after Raya. What course and where? I'll tell you later! Maybe after a week of orientation there, I'll update you guys on it! Stay tuned hehe.

Here's a little throwback. Graduation Day with all my awesome classmates, 5 Al Biruni 💓

Overall, I couldn't be more grateful for what I accomplished. I'm so going to miss my school life, and I'm very excited + afraid to go to the next stage of my life as a student. I read blog posts about foundation life and it sounds damn scary! Definitely, need to prepare myself mentally and physically for it.

I wish all of my '00 batchmates best of luck in the future! Whatever you're taking and wherever you are, please remember to study smart and not study hard, okay? Honestly, one of the best tips I can give to you is you need to set your nawaitu carefully. If you have the most sincere and proper niat from the beginning, insya'Allah everything will go well just as you want it to be. And of course, with Allah's will.

Till then, see you guys later!

Salam Ramadan, Everyone!

It has been a long time, right? Hello there! Damn, this is awkward. I haven't updated since forever. Lol. Well, all I can say is that I was super damn busy with work. Yes, I did get a part-time job, guys! Just as I planned in my previous post. I won't share too many details about it yet, I'll be making a separate post about my first every job experience. Hehe.

After a few months of getting paid, I finally spent some of my money for this blog! I've been waiting to do this for soooooooo long. Now, I finally got my own domain, www.liyanajasmi.com and also a Blogger template I've always wanted. I'm using a template by UnderlineDesigns. They sell beautiful templates at affordable prices. The domain service I'm using is by NetKL, which costs RM45 per year. Yay, my dreams came true!

Overall, I'm really happy with my blog now. After a few days of editing, I would say I'm 99% satisfied with how it looks. Alhamdulillah, rezeki bulan Ramadan gitu. Speaking of that, happy fasting to all Muslims! It's almost middle of Ramadan now. How time flies, right? May this honourable month full of blessings and forgiveness for everyone. I wish you guys a delightful Ramadan ahead!

Since my blog looks pretty fresh and new now, I feel very excited to continue updating! Lol, I know I always say this but this time, I will try to keep this blog updated since I have about 1 month left before continuing my studies. Cause I will be definitely even busier after that. I really miss this keyboard, ugh!

Please stay tuned! Salam Ramadan, peeps 💕

P.s; Really can't wait for Raya. I've been making kuih raya since before Ramadan! CORNFLAKES MADU IS LIFE. Fight me.
